Prateek is a policy adviser in the DCMS Data Policy and Governance team, where he is Secretariat for the Data Advisory Board. The Board, chaired by the Chief Executive of the Civil Service, is the senior cross-government forum addressing strategic barriers across public sector to the adoption of data-enabled change.
Prateek is a recovering academic, having spent eleven years developing gene therapy for blindness at UCL before joining the civil service, and is a part of OneTeamGov – the movement for creating a more empathetic, collaborative public sector through practical action.

Panel: Innovation in government: transforming services using emerging technologies

In 2018, GDS published a milestone landscape review to understand how emerging technologies are being used to drive innovation across government. This cross-government panel will examine the existing innovation framework and networks that are driving change across the public sector, and explore the relationship between technology innovation and digital transformation.
This session considers:
- The opportunities of emerging technologies (AI, RPA, DLT) for government
- The ethical and structural impact of technological innovation
- The importance of data
- The barriers to innovation
